Women's Ministry
There are some things every woman knows. They're not taught. They're just there, deep in the fiber of the female spirit.
- Every woman knows she can do it (whatever "it" is).
- Every woman knows she's not as strong as she makes everyone believe, and
- Every woman knows she needs other women.
Yes, we live in a marvelous time when every home has at least a few modern conveniences, such as a vacuum cleaner, washer and dryer, stove, microwave, refrigerator, etc., yet our time is consumed with rushing from one commitment to another, task after task after task. Family togetherness is sorely limited, and sharing a glass of sweet tea with your neighbor on a lazy afternoon is pretty much a thing of the past. Yet - women need other women - to laugh with - to confide in - to share recipes and personal experiences - to ask advice from - to vent - to encourage and be encouraged, and more. Women's Ministry at Zion Baptist Church is for every woman, of every age, as we seek to minister to each other in a manner pleasing to God.
Our plans for the coming year are built around the theme, "Every Woman Needs", and include
- a thrift store shopping trip (Every Woman Needs a Good Black Dress)
- review and role play of etiquette lessons (Every Woman Needs Perfect Manners)
- mini-cooking school with our church hostess (Every Woman Needs One Great Recipe)
- Scripture sharing event (Every Woman Needs Sound Advice)
- crafts night (Every Woman Needs a Hobby), and
- outreach opportunities (Every Woman Needs to Serve)
The most important thing of all: Every woman needs Jesus.
Because of Jesus, we live in hope in a world that often seems hopeless. Because of Jesus and His ministry to women while on earth, we know that
- He cares about our aches and pains (He healed Peter's mother-in-law, who immediately got up and ministered to her family)
- He cares when we have a debilitating illnesses (He healed the woman who touched the hem of His garment of her years-long issue of blood)
- He cares about our celebrations (He changed the water into wine at the wedding in Cana)
- He cares about our sacrifices (He commended the widow who offered her mite, all that she had)
- He cares about our need to give to Him (He accepted Mary's extravagant action of anointing Him with perfume)
- He cares that we get cranky sometimes because we're working in the kitchen, instead of spending time with Him.
Please share yourself with us this year. Every Woman Needs... You.
In His Love,
Women's Ministry Team
